Many local food lovers believe that Vancouver has the best Chinese food in all of North America, better than San Francisco and New York. You can decide for yourself by comparing some of these excellent restaurants to your favorites back home. Let us know what you decide.

With some of the Chinese restaurants listed, you might have to drive, or take a taxi, to get to them. Others are in or near downtown. Remember, however, that you can often tell the intended clientele by the address. Out of the way restaurants rely on local, repeat customers and are, often, more reliable and authentic.

Sun Sui Wah 3888 Main St. Vancouver 604-872-8822 Step inside and you'll think you've gone to Hong Kong. The food is beautiful to see and to eat, and the king crab is exquisite. This huge restaurant is run like a perfectly tuned machine. The wait staff is cordial, efficient and knowledgeable.

Shanghai Xin Hua Lou 4136 Main Street Vancouver 604-879-5818 This place has the best dumplings in town along with good Northern style dim sum.

Pink Pearl 1132 E. Hastings Street at Clark Vancouver 604-253-4316 The Pink Pearl, a Vancouver institution, is an enormous restaurant in the middle of nowhere, but it is has the best dim sum in town and is well worth the trip.

Wing Wah 260 East Broadway Vancouver 604-879-9168 This place has the best green beans in town along with excellent Szechuan noodles, fried bread and good tofu dishes.
