Ambleside, a West Vancouver community, has a wonderful beach and park with so many
facilities, you could easily spend the whole day.
Getting There: To get to Ambleside Park, cross the Lions Gate Bridge, which is located at the north end of West Georgia Street. Once across
the bridge, follow the signs to West Vancouver. The road curves around and brings
you out on Marine Drive.
Continue west on Marine Drive to 13th Street. Turn left on 13th and continue one
block to the Ambleside Park entrance. Drive through the park to get an overview
before you decide where you want to start your exploration.
You can walk, swim in the ocean or play Frisbee, football or soccer on the playing
field. If that sounds like too much work, sunbathe on the sandy beach, eat lunch
at the concession stand or play a round of pitch and putt golf on the par 3 course.
If your dog is lucky enough to be with you, take him/her to the adjacent dog park
at the far end of the road. If you have kids in tow, don't forget to bring skateboards
for the skateboard park and a basketball and volleyball to go with the hoops and
nets.
If you get hungry, Ambleside Park has an excellent concession stand with hamburgers,
fish and chips and lots of other beach food.
Ambleside Park is a block from Marine Drive where you'll find interesting shops
and restaurants.
However, the best thing about Ambleside Beach and Park is the ambiance. It's a place
that always feels like a vacation at the seashore. It doesn't have a rushed or urban
feel. It's the perfect vacation getaway even if you're already on vacation.
