Rocky Mountaineer Train Trips to the Canadian Rockies

If you're contemplating a Rocky Mountaineer train trip through the Canadian Rockies, here are the 9 things to consider before deciding which trip is best for you.

1. Rocky Mountaineer's all daylight trains depart Vancouver, Jasper National Park, Banff National Park and Calgary Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from April 16 to October 13, 2009.

2. Rocky Mountaineer trains also travel between Whistler, the site of the 2010 Winter Olympics, and Jasper National Park on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between May 14 and October 10, 2009. Be sure to check with us before making flight reservations as some train dates have been canceled.

3. Trains between Whistler and Jasper travel less frequently as those between Vancouver and the Rockies.

4. Most Rocky Mountaineer train vacations begin with a hotel stay the night before the train departs and end with a hotel stay the night the train arrives. You can, however, book your own hotels and purchase only a two day / one night Rocky Mountaineer train trip.

5. Rocky Mountaineer's non-escorted vacations include all transfers, all luggage handling, tour guides and friendly, dedicated staff to look after you, your luggage and your connections all along the way. Escorted vacations include a guide who looks after everything.

6. Rocky Mountaineer train packages (train, hotels, tours and transfers) range in length from 4 to 16 days. They include some or all of the following: , 2, 4 or 4.5 days on the train; overnight stays in Vancouver, Whistler, Jasper, Lake Louise, Banff and/or Calgary. (En route, you'll also spend a night in either Kamloops or Quesnel.)

7. You may also include bus tours of Jasper National Park, the Columbia Icefield & Athabasca Glacier, Lake Louise, Yoho National Park, Banff National Park and Banff townsite. Glacier helicopter tours are available with some tours.

8. If you prefer to travel with more independence, you may purchase a two day, one night train journey and build your own package around the train trip. We can help with suggestions and make all your independent reservations.

9. You may purchase a two day "round trip" ticket that takes you from Vancouver to Kamloops and then back to Vancouver, one day out, an overnight stay in Kamloops, and one day back to Vancouver.

10. Rocky Mountaineer train trips are very flexible and most anything is possible. Give us a call or email us and, working together, we can put together the perfect trip for you.
